  • Studies of Electrical Engineering at the school of applied sciences in Münster and at the Ruhr-University in Bochum (Dipl.-Ing. 1986)
  • Doctorate to Dr.-Ing. (1991) and habilitation at the speciality of "Theory of electromagnetic fields" (1996) at the Ruhr-University
  • Scientific member (1986-1996) and university lecturer (1996-1998) at the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr-University
  • since 1998: Professor of the chair Computational Electromagnetics at the technical faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel
  • 2004: U.R.S.I. International Electromagnetics Prize for the work 'Electromagnetic Scattering by a Plane Angular Sector'
  • 2009: IEEE Fellow (for contribution of spherical Multipole analysis of electromagnetic fields)
